STILES: Doug Ford’s luxury lifestyle is costing taxpayers

QUEEN’S PARK — Official Opposition Ontario NDP Leader Marit Stiles says Doug Ford’s tepid apology for his private jet scandal isn’t good enough, and that the Premier needs to reimburse Ontario taxpayers for the costs:

“Doug Ford’s half-hearted mea culpa doesn’t put money back in people’s pockets,” said Stiles. “The Premier is handwringing over a problem he created. For all his talk about respecting the taxpayer, he seems to be perfectly okay with leaving them on the hook for nearly $200,000 for his luxury shopping spree.

“Doug Ford developed a taste for private jets and took the taxpayers for a ride to fulfill his dreams of living like a rockstar. He is lighting taxpayer dollars on fire while the people of Ontario are barely scraping by.

“Doug Ford’s luxury lifestyle is simply too expensive for the people of Ontario. He needs to remember who he works for and pay the people back for his private jet fiasco.”
